An Exercise in Defending Democracy

Solidarity! Cultural institutions and democracy in danger

An evening (in German) as part of the event series on the Bauhaus and diversity.

Cultural institutions are increasingly becoming the target of anti-democratic attacks that adhere to the constitutional framework. For example, the so-called „Kleinen Anfragen“, questions from members of parliament that deliberately slow down museums and intimidate museum staff.

The Bauhaus was also subjected to political reprisals, which ultimately led to its closure in 1933. Therefore we invite you to exchange ideas: How can cultural institutions stand together in solidarity and share their resources? What lessons can we learn from the past, in which cultural institutions and academic teaching facilities were gradually eroded and abolished by democratic means?

Event language: German.

Speaker: Julia Leser (Netzwerk Halt!ung e.V.), Janina Benduski (DIE VIELEN), Samira Akbarian (Jurist)

Free of charge. Limited capacity of seats. Please register here.
