Square weaving

Workshop for families

Weaving has been going on for thousands of years and all over the world - with very different materials and diverse techniques. A fabric can be created by hand alone or in a fully automated computer-controlled factory production. Various methods, tools and materials were used in the weaving workshop at the Bauhaus, too, to design and produce textiles for very different purposes and applications.

The basic shape of the square often appears - sometimes as a structure, sometimes as a motif. We will experiment with it, make our own designs and try out weaving techniques.

The workshop will be held in German by the educators Verena Cremer and Cornelia Durka. They can also explain the tasks in English to you.
