New Architecture!
Modern Architecture in Images and Books
12.03.-10.06.2014

The art historian and architectural journalist Walter Müller-Wulckow (1886–1964) was one of the most influential writers on the architectural avant-garde in Germany. His four books on modern architecture and housing,  published in the »Blue Books« series between 1925 and 1932, became  bestsellers. Letters, photographs, plans and sketches from Müller-Wulckow’s  estate illustrate the upheavals and fresh starts in architecture that took place from 1900 to 1930.

The exhibition, a collaborative project with the Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte Oldenburg (State Museum of  Art and Cultural History in Oldenburg), will be placing Müller-Wulckow’s books  on the New Architecture in the context of the architectural journalism of the  period and examining the ways in which architecture was conveyed in book  publications, using numerous architectural photographs.
